Deputy Marshal John Luses

 Deputy Marshal John Luses was assigned to the United States Marshal's Cleveland office.
Deputy Luses and guard, Theodore Lash were detailed to Detroit, Michigan to transfer a prisoner from Detroit to Pittsburgh. 

The prisoner, Howard Rogers, alias A.E. Rogers, was wanted in connection with charges of Using the Mail to Defraud.

 As the trio neared their destination in Pittsburgh, a semi truck jack-knifed, sending the trailer into the path of Deputy Luses' vehicle. The vehicle crashed into the underside of the trailer. All of the occupants were injured in the crash. The following day, John Luses died as a result of his injuries. Theodore Lash and Howard Rogers recovered.

 John Luses resided on East Boulevard and was survived by his wife Mary, daughter Marylin, and a brother Gustav.  He was laid to rest in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Bedford Heights.

 John Luses's name is inscribed on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Wall, Washington, D.C. panel 24, west wall, line 15.
